I’ve dug about in my photos and found some before and during pics of our Ikea LOTS mirror hack.

I’d seen a few people do this before and loved it so thought we’d give it a whirl for our hallway which lacks natural light (a new front door is definitely on the long term shopping list). We had a small mirror there before, but also added an Ikea shelf with a big plant to cover the ugly fuse box!

We used mdf for the backing of the mirror. I picked a relatively thin one as was worried about the weight on our new build walls but I’d recommend going a bit thicker so it can take the weight of the mirrors better. We also bought some long strips of wooden trim (no idea what else to call it!) and glued them onto the back board. The mdf came in a massive sheet but if you work your measurements out @bandq_uk will cut it for you (ours is a massive store though so not sure all of them do this and I also needed it cutting as the sheet wouldn’t go in my car).

To set the frame, we used a lot of clamps and the first attempt went badly wrong as it was March and we left it for about a week in the garage and it was freezing and warped the back of the mirror! Also crucial to attach whatever sort of hanging hooks on the back before you add the mirrors! We then sprayed it black using spray paint we already had, then once dry glued the mirrors in.

It took us two attempts to get it right and needs a good few separate days as it needs to be left for the glue to set and paint to dry but it cost about £15 in total and I always get so many compliments on it 🙌🏻 plus it fits the space perfectly and bounces the light around!

Sorry my explanation isn’t a bit more technical - I keep telling mark he needs to set up an insta to explain his DIY hacks but he won’t have it.
